Among the 232 passengers were 169 Indians, 53 Britons, seven Portuguese, and one Canadian. India’s civil aviation minister confirmed swift emergency responses, while relatives anxiously gathered outside hospitals. One survivor jumped from a second-story window to escape.
This marks the first fatal crash involving a Boeing 787, which has flown over 30 million hours. Investigations are underway as Boeing faces renewed scrutiny over safety. The Ahmedabad airport remains closed as the world mourns.
