That’s exactly what happened to one unlucky SpiceJet passenger on a night flight from Mumbai to Bengaluru. The man, seated in 14D, stepped into the lavatory shortly after takeoff. Moments later, his worst nightmare began — the door jammed shut. No matter how hard he pushed or shouted, it wouldn’t open.
For over an hour, he remained trapped in that cramped space as the plane soared through the night sky. Flight attendants and fellow passengers tried desperately to free him — but nothing worked. So they did the only thing they could: they slid a handwritten note under the door.
“Do not panic,” it read. “We are landing soon. Please close the commode lid, sit on it, and secure yourself.”

The man stayed locked inside through landing until engineers finally broke open the door once the plane touched down. He was shaken but safe — and immediately given medical care and a full refund.
SpiceJet later apologized, calling it a “rare and unfortunate incident.”
For the poor traveler, though, it’s a flight he’ll never forget — a vivid reminder that sometimes, even the smallest space can feel like the longest journey.
