Ronni Lily and her partner Brad named their baby boy Lucifer after he was born on January 20, 2024. The Birmingham couple chose the name because they wanted it to stand out.
Family Reacts Poorly
Lily faced strong reactions from her own family regarding the name. One relative called the name an abomination and still refuses to use it. However, Lily’s father loved the bold choice right away. Lily and Brad already have three other children named Lola, Lincoln, and Lilac.

Online Trolls Attack
The 27-year-old mom received fierce backlash from online groups. Critics claimed the name was illegal or cruel to the child. Some even suggested the boy would act like the devil. Lily remains unfazed and ignores these negative comments from strangers. “What we call our child has nothing to do with them”.
Legal in United Kingdom
The name Lucifer is banned in Germany, Iceland, and New Zealand. New Zealand added the name to its banned list in 2013. However, the couple faced no issues at the registrar’s office in the U.K.. Midwives also encouraged the parents to keep the name because they liked it.
Future for Baby Lucifer
Lily believes the name suits her son perfectly because he is a cheeky chap. She teaches her children to be confident so they can handle any bullies. The boy also has a common middle name if he wants to use it later. “There is nothing negative about his name”.
