An Air India flight to London crashed minutes after departing Ahmedabad on June 12, killing 241 of the 242 people onboard. The Boeing 787 carried 232 passengers, including two infants, and 10 crew members. Authorities are still investigating the cause, as families reel from the devastating loss.
British passenger Viswash Kumar Ramesh, 38, was the only survivor. Seated in 11A near an emergency exit, he somehow escaped the wreckage and called his family. “Our plane crashed. I have no idea how I got outside,” he said in shock. Doctors say he’s stable and under observation.

Among the dead were pilots Clive Kunder and Sumeet Sabharwal. The captain’s final words were chilling: “Mayday… no thrust, losing power.” British couple Jamie and Fiongal Meek also died; they had just completed a wellness retreat and shared joyful videos before boarding.
Loved ones in India and the UK are mourning deeply. Officials continue to search for answers, while tributes pour in for the victims. MP Shivani Raja called Viswash’s survival “nothing short of a miracle.”
