Anthony Joshua condition: Update after Nigeria road crash
Nigerian police shared an update on Anthony Joshua’s condition after a crash. It happened on 29 December 2025, while he visited Nigeria.

First, police said the crash occurred on the Lagos–Ibadan Expressway near Sagamu. Nigeria’s Federal Road Safety Corps, the national road safety agency, said a Lexus SUV hit a stationary truck. The agency suspects the Lexus exceeded the speed limit and lost control while overtaking, passing another vehicle.
Next, the FRSC said the crash happened around midday local time, 11am GMT. Five adult men were involved, and FRSC staff arrived within three minutes. Joshua rode as a passenger and had minor injuries, while two men died.

However, an eyewitness told Punch the Lexus was in a two-vehicle convoy. He claimed Joshua died at the scene, but officials said he survived. Also, the FRSC said it notified the Motor Traffic Division, a police unit for crash reports. It said it sent the dead to Livewell Morgue in Ajaka, Sagamu.
Finally, a friend said Joshua was okay but badly shaken. Promoter Eddie Hearn said he was seeking details, and the FRSC offered condolences.
