A new poll shows that if Donald Trump and Barack Obama ran against each other in the 2028 U.S. presidential election, Obama would win. Although the U.S. Constitution bars both men from serving another term, the idea of a head-to-head race has sparked public interest.
The poll, conducted by Daily Mail and J.L. Partners, surveyed 1,013 registered voters. Results show 52% would vote for Obama, while 41% would choose Trump. Obama had strong support from Hispanic (73%) and Black (68%) voters.
Trump recently hinted at interest in a third run, saying, “A lot of people want me to do it,” though the 22nd Amendment prevents it. Republicans have floated the idea, but it would require a major change to the Constitution.
While Obama leads in this fantasy matchup, the same poll found Trump would narrowly defeat Hillary Clinton and Joe Biden. Some experts have raised concerns about Trump’s recent behavior, with psychologist Dr. John Gartner noting, “We see classic signs of dementia… a huge deterioration.”
