In his 2023 memoir Spare, Prince Harry revealed a tense moment between Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton before his wedding. Meghan’s casual comment about “baby brain” allegedly offended Kate, leading her to demand an apology.

Harry wrote that during a meeting to “clear the air” at Kensington Palace, Kate confronted Meghan, saying, “We are not close enough for you to talk about my hormones!” William also scolded Meghan, prompting her to firmly respond, asking him to “take [his] finger out of [her] face.”

Harry added Meghan was shocked by the reaction, explaining she meant no harm and would never intentionally upset Kate. Meghan said she speaks to others the same way she talks to her friends.

Another incident involved Meghan crying after Kate insisted all bridesmaid dresses, including Princess Charlotte’s, be remade. The next day, Kate apologized with flowers and a card.

Though the group shared a hug, Harry admitted it felt only “kind of” reconciliatory—hinting at the deeper tensions beneath the royal surface.
