HGTV has removed Nicole Curtis’ series Rehab Addict from all platforms after a video surfaced showing her using a racial slur during filming.
The footage, reportedly recorded about two years ago while Curtis was working on a renovation project, shows her uttering the slur in frustration. She immediately reacts, asking the crew to delete the comment.
After the video became public, HGTV issued a statement saying the language was offensive and did not reflect the network’s values. The company said it is committed to maintaining respect and inclusion in both its programming and workplace. As a result, the network pulled the show from its platforms.
Curtis had recently announced the return of Rehab Addict after a previous pause in production. The series had been scheduled to air new episodes this month.
In response to the controversy, Curtis apologized, stating that the word does not reflect her beliefs or vocabulary. She said she would address the situation more fully at a later time but was focusing on her family. She also indicated she was unaware of the show’s cancellation when first contacted about the issue.
