Sharon Osbourne has revealed the touching words her husband, Ozzy Osbourne, said after his final concert in Birmingham — just 17 days before his death. The Black Sabbath legend died in July at age 76 after battling Parkinson’s disease and heart problems.
At his farewell show, the “Prince of Darkness” told 40,000 fans: “You’ve no idea how I feel – thank you from the bottom of my heart.” The concert raised $190 million for charity, split between Birmingham Children’s Hospital, Cure Parkinson’s, and Acorns Children’s Hospice.
Sharon recalled Ozzy later telling her, “I had no idea that so many people liked me.” She added, “Metal fans are the most loyal fans in the world… It was the perfect way to end a long career.”
Ozzy’s death certificate listed cardiac arrest as the cause, with coronary artery disease and Parkinson’s as contributing factors. Thousands lined the streets of Birmingham on July 30 to say goodbye, chanting “Ozzy, Ozzy, Ozzy” as his hearse passed by.
