Alan Alda, the beloved MASH* star, has been married to Arlene Alda for 68 years. Their love story began in 1956 at a college party, when a rum cake fell on the floor and they were the only two who dared to eat it. “I knew she was the one when we ate the cake off the floor,” Alan once said.
In 2015, Alan was diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease after recognizing an early warning sign. Instead of slowing down, he built a strict exercise routine that includes boxing, tai chi, and biking. “I’m feeling good and charging ahead, doing everything I can to slow the progression,” he shared.

Arlene, a photographer and musician, has been his constant support. Alan often says, “Laughing with my wife makes me happiest.” Their partnership, built on humor and resilience, has carried them through every challenge.
Now 89, Alan continues to work, record podcasts, and inspire fans worldwide. His story proves that love, laughter, and determination can overcome even life’s toughest battles.
