A chilling prediction by Japan’s so-called “new Baba Vanga” has shaken tourism and airlines across Japan. Ryo Tatsuki, a fortune teller and former manga artist, claims she’s had prophetic dreams since the 1980s. One of her most famous predictions came true in March 2011, when a massive quake and tsunami struck Japan.
Now, Tatsuki warns of another disaster. She claims the ocean south of Japan is “boiling” and predicts a huge undersea volcanic eruption on July 5, sparking a mega tsunami that could hit Japan, Taiwan, Indonesia, and the Northern Mariana Islands.

Fear over this prophecy has scared off tourists. Travel agencies report bookings to Japan have dropped by half, with Hong Kong Airlines cutting flights to Kagoshima and Kumamoto for July and August. Affected travelers are offered rebookings to other cities or alternative destinations like Vietnam and Thailand.
Officials, however, urge calm. Miyagi’s governor called the claims “unscientific” and assured visitors Japan remains safe. Despite online panic, locals aren’t fleeing — and Japan’s beauty still waits for travelers willing to believe in facts over fear.
