Olympic legend Simone Biles and former swimmer Riley Gaines are at odds over trans inclusion in women’s sports. The clash began when Gaines mocked a high school softball team, suggesting their “star player is a boy.” Biles fired back, calling her a “sore loser” and accused her of bullying the trans community.
Biles urged support for trans athletes, suggesting safer, more inclusive categories in sports. She said ignoring the issue is “far more dangerous” than confronting it. While some praised her as “The GOAT of GOATs,” others felt let down, saying she was no longer a role model for young girls.

Gaines claimed Biles had “turned her back on women,” accusing her of body-shaming and hypocrisy. She referenced a Biles tweet: “Bully someone your own size,” arguing it acknowledged biological differences. Gaines said the focus should remain on fairness in competition.
A 12-time All-American, Gaines became an activist after tying with Lia Thomas in 2022. She now advocates for single-sex sports and Title IX protections, testifying before lawmakers and continuing her nationwide campaign for female athlete rights.
