Lindsey Vonn was seriously hurt after a heavy crash during an Olympic downhill race. The American skiing legend lost control after clipping a gate and fell hard on the slope.
The crash happened only days after Vonn confirmed a major knee injury. She said her ACL was fully torn, along with other damage to her knee. Despite this, she chose to race, explaining that her knee had been stable until shortly before the event.
During the run, Vonn went down at high speed and was heard screaming in pain. Medics rushed to help her as the race was stopped. She was unable to stand or ski away on her own.
Because of her condition, she had to be airlifted from the mountain and taken to hospital. The scene was difficult to watch, and the crowd fell silent as she was treated.
Many viewers said they were shocked and upset, especially hearing her cries of pain. At the time of writing, doctors had not yet confirmed the full extent of her injuries.
