Spiteful trolls blamed me when I escaped the house fire that killed my children… Now I find comfort in the messages they send me from beyond the grave

Jade Horton’s life changed forever one December night in 2020 when a fire tore through her home. She escaped with devastating injuries, but her two children, Sienna, 7, and Isaac, 3, tragically died. “I would have given my life to save them,” she said.

In the months after, Jade faced cruel online accusations, with strangers blaming her for the tragedy. The inquest later confirmed there was nothing she could have done — the blaze, caused by a faulty TV, spread too quickly. Learning her children likely passed from smoke inhalation, not flames, brought her a small measure of peace.

Jade found comfort in signs she believes are messages from her children — coins from their birth years, robins in the garden, and even words from a psychic. These moments inspired her to retrain as a spiritual healer, helping others while healing herself.

Now honored with a Woman of Courage award, Jade carries her children’s ashes in teddy bears wherever she goes. “I know they’re still with me,” she says, finding strength in their love to keep moving forward.
