Sonny Blundell, 18, had just moved to Queensland to begin a new job and life with his girlfriend — a step his family called “his greatest accomplishment.” Originally from New South Wales, Sonny had worked hard to secure a position in concreting and settle into a new apartment in Southport.
Tragically, while celebrating with his best friend on June 23, Sonny attempted a backflip and hit his head on the floor. Though he woke up briefly, vomiting and disoriented, he later passed out. His friend found him unresponsive the next morning.

He was rushed to ICU with a serious brain injury and later suffered multiple strokes. Despite medical efforts, Sonny passed away a week later. “We are all in disbelief and major pain,” his sister Izabella wrote on GoFundMe.
The fundraiser is now helping cover funeral costs and return Sonny’s body to his family in New South Wales. His story is a heartbreaking reminder of the hidden dangers of head trauma and the need for urgent care after any serious fall or impact.
