A brave group of bus passengers rescued a 17-year-old girl after an illegal immigrant tried to kidnap her in Swindon. CCTV footage showed 27-year-old Abdulmawal Ibrahim Adam from Sudan grabbing the terrified teen and dragging her across the road as she walked home from work around 9:30 p.m.

Witnesses jumped into action, rushing from the bus to help the girl escape. “This was a terrifying ordeal, and the victim showed incredible strength,” said Detective Constable Anna McCormack. “The public’s quick actions may have prevented something far worse.”
After the failed attack, Adam tried approaching two other women before being chased off and filmed by bystanders. He was later arrested and pleaded guilty to attempted kidnap. The court heard he had entered the UK illegally in 2023 and previously served prison time for doing so.
Judge James Townsend has ordered a report before sentencing. Prosecutors vowed to protect women and girls, warning, “Violence like this will never be tolerated.”
