Claims from an ex-student
Jessica McLane, now 30, says she went to school with Taylor Swift.
She says many classmates “hated” Taylor because they were “jealous.”
Time and place
Jessica said she attended Hendersonville High School in Nashville, Tennessee.
She said she and Taylor, now 32, overlapped in 2006.
Jessica said it was less than a year.
She said she was a freshman and Taylor was a junior.
Taylor’s move to Tennessee
Taylor grew up in Wyomissing, Pennsylvania, before moving to Tennessee at 14.
She moved so she could pursue a career in country music.
She attended Hendersonville High School for two-and-a-half years.
Then she left and became homeschooled after her career took off.
What Jessica said
Now, Jessica says she barely spoke to Taylor at school.
However, she claims other students called Taylor “b***hy.”
She said in a TikTok video viewed more than 6.4 million times:
“When she first started becoming super successful, most people hated her. Keep in mind, these are her peers, this isn’t, like, just random people on the internet.
There were not a lot of people in high school who had nice things to say about her … There were general rumors about her being b***hy. [People would say], “She said this, she said that, she was mean.””
Rumors and fallout
Then, Jessica claimed “jealous” classmates spread rumors Taylor’s family “bought her fame.”
She also said the guys tied to Taylor’s songs were unhappy.
She said:
“And now they have a hit song about them talking about what a s**ty boyfriend they are, you know?”
