Actress Aimee Lou Wood, known for Sex Education and The White Lotus, has battled body image issues and mental health struggles since childhood. She describes feeling like “a floating head,” disconnected from her body due to eating disorders and undiagnosed neurodivergence. “Now I know it was neurodivergence,” she said after being diagnosed with ADHD and suspected autism.
Her breakout role brought praise—but also intense scrutiny. After filming intimate scenes, she felt exposed and began covering up in public. The spotlight reignited old insecurities, especially about her teeth, which became a frequent—and exhausting—topic of conversation. “The whole conversation is just about my teeth,” she shared.

Wood avoided public outings for a time, overwhelmed by constant recognition. Despite landing major roles, she questioned her worth: “Mike had to say, ‘Please let me have the ugly girl,’” she recalled, misinterpreting a compliment.
Now 31, Wood embraces her natural features and rejects cosmetic pressure. “There’s nothing wrong with being mentally ill,” she says. Her honesty continues to inspire fans to value authenticity over perfection.
