Three children are rushed to hospital after car ploughed into them as they played on pavement ‘then took off’: Man, 37, is arrested

A joyful afternoon turned into horror when a car struck three children in west Belfast. The youngsters, two girls and a boy, were rushed to hospital after the crash on Black Ridge View.

Police say the car reversed into the children before driving away. “It’s every parent’s worst nightmare,” one local said. Officers quickly arrested a 37-year-old man. He is suspected of dangerous driving, drinking over the limit, and failing to stop.

The children’s conditions remain unknown, but neighbors described the scene as “deeply shocking.” Police confirmed the driver is still in custody. They are asking anyone with dashcam or CCTV footage to come forward.

“This could have been avoided,” a witness shared sadly. The case is under investigation, and families are left shaken. Incidents like this remind us how fragile life can be. What do you think should happen to drivers who flee after such accidents?
