Former U.S. President Donald Trump has warned Russia after a heated exchange with Dmitry Medvedev, Russia’s former president. In response to Medvedev’s aggressive comments, Trump said he ordered two U.S. nuclear submarines to move into “appropriate regions.”
“Words are very important, and can often lead to unintended consequences,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “I hope this will not be one of those instances.”
The clash began after Trump told Russia it had 10 days to agree to a ceasefire in Ukraine or face harsh U.S. tariffs. Medvedev fired back on social media, accusing Trump of using threats and warning this could lead to war — not just with Ukraine, but with the U.S.
Trump replied by calling Medvedev a “failed former president” and warned him to “watch his words” and avoid “very dangerous territory.” Trump also said the U.S. and Russia “do almost no business together” and he wants to keep it that way.
The situation adds tension to the ongoing Russia-Ukraine conflict as the deadline for a ceasefire nears.
