President Trump is expected to announce that Tylenol (paracetamol) use during pregnancy may increase the risk of autism. Officials plan to advise pregnant women to avoid the drug unless treating a fever.
The warning follows a federal review into rising autism rates across the US. At the same time, health officials will highlight a low-cost drug called leucovorin, which some doctors say can improve speech and behavior in children. “I think it’s going to be one of the most important things we will do,” Trump said.

Leucovorin, a form of folic acid, costs about $2.50 per pill. Doctors report remarkable improvements in some nonverbal children, though it is not a cure. One neurologist explained, “Dozens of my patients have spoken their first words within months of starting treatment.”
Autism rates have risen sharply, now affecting about one in 31 children. While some experts blame better diagnosis, others suspect environmental factors. The debate continues, but families are hopeful.
