A peaceful day by the Brazos River turned into heartbreak when two young brothers drowned in Johnson County, Texas. Four-year-old Banx McAmis and his seven-year-old brother Bowyn Miller went missing Tuesday evening while playing near Hamm Creek Park.

After a frantic two-hour search, rescue teams found the boys in the water around 8:30 p.m. Despite desperate efforts to save them, both were pronounced dead at the scene. “It only took a moment,” said Lt. Keven George of the Johnson County Sheriff’s Office. Authorities confirmed the cause of death as accidental drowning.
Bowyn, a second-grader at Plum Creek Elementary, was remembered as kind and caring. His little brother Banx was full of joy, energy, and love for Ninja Turtles and Pokémon. “They were best friends who did everything together — and left this world together,” read one emotional tribute.

As the community mourns, over $35,000 has been raised to support the grieving family. Their story is a heartbreaking reminder: always watch children closely near water — even for a second.
