Derbyshire Police are urging the public to come forward with information after two teenage girls were seriously sexually assaulted on Halloween night in Heanor.
The incident happened on the Lockton Avenue recreation ground between 9pm and 11pm.
Both girls are being supported by specialist officers and partner agencies. Police say the investigation is a priority, and extra patrols will be in the area in the coming days to reassure residents.

Officers have released a detailed description of the suspect.
The girls described the man as:
- White
- Around 40 years old
- About 5ft 8ins tall
- Slim build
- Short, light ginger beard
- Wearing a green baseball-style cap
- Wearing a green coat
Police believe someone in the community may recognise this description.
Investigators are also asking residents and businesses to check CCTV or doorbell cameras from the night of October 31. Footage from the following streets may be especially helpful:
- Roper Avenue
- Lockton Avenue
- Old Coppice Side
- Shipley Park Gardens
- Thorpe Hill Drive
- Thorpes Road
Any video from between 9pm and 11pm could assist the investigation.
Derbyshire Police said they want to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time or who may have seen someone matching the suspect’s description.
