A chilling video shows gorillas pounding on glass inside a zoo that’s been closed for years. 🦍💔
Once a beloved attraction, Bristol Zoo shut its doors in 2022 after more than 180 years. But now, viral footage of gorillas trapped inside the abandoned site has sparked outrage — and heartbreaking questions about what really happened to the animals left behind.

The video, filmed by so-called “urban explorers,” shows gorillas still inside the old facility, visibly agitated. “Bristol Zoo — what are you hiding?” one voice asks. The group claimed they “walked straight in” and could even open enclosures, raising fears over security and animal welfare.
Zoo officials have pushed back, insisting the gorillas are being well cared for in a temperature-controlled habitat and are awaiting relocation to a brand-new home by 2026. “Their welfare has always been our top priority,” said conservation director Brian Zimmerman. Still, police are investigating repeated trespassing that’s reportedly distressing the animals.
Seeing those gorillas behind glass reminds us — animals can’t speak for themselves. It’s up to us to make sure their silence never means suffering. 🕊️
