Most couples spend a fortune on weddings. Marley Jaxx, 34, and her husband, Steve Larsen, 37, decided to flip the script.
The Idaho couple shocked family and friends by charging tickets for their big day. Guests could buy a $57 ticket for the wedding itself or spend $997 for a three-day experience, including a rehearsal dinner and a “biohacking brunch.” In total, 300 guests attended, covering the $50,000 cost and raising more than $132,000 in profit.

Marley admitted some people were surprised. “Of course there were people who did a double take,” she said. But she added, “The people who were at the wedding wanted to be there.” Guests even told the couple it felt more meaningful to choose and pay.
All profits are going to Village Impact, a charity building schools in Kenya. Steve shared: “Hundreds of kids will get a classroom, and that will have come through our wedding.”
