The fatal shooting of 37-year-old ICU nurse Alex Pretti by ICE agents in Minneapolis has created a national firestorm. This incident marks the second fatal shooting by federal agents in the city this month, following the death of Renee Nicole Good on January 7.

The White House and federal officials have labeled Pretti a “domestic terrorist.” They claim agents acted in self-defense because he approached them with a firearm. However, this narrative is being challenged by new evidence and unexpected critics.
New witness testimony and verified videos suggest a different story. Eyewitnesses state that Pretti was not brandishing a weapon. Instead, his family asserts he was holding a mobile phone while attempting to protect a bystander. They have publicly condemned the administration’s claims as “sickening lies.”

In a surprising twist, the National Rifle Association (NRA) has spoken out against the administration. While the government argues the shooting was justified, the NRA suggests that demonizing a citizen for legally carrying a firearm is “dangerous and wrong.” They argue that the Second Amendment protects law-abiding citizens from such characterizations.
As federal immigration operations enter their ninth week in Minnesota, local leaders are voicing deep concerns. Many fear that ordinary community members are now being caught in the crossfire. While the FBI is reviewing these cases, there are currently no plans to charge the agents involved, leading to further public outcry.
