Who is Agent Jonathan Ross?
The ICE agent who shot Renee Nicole Good has been identified as Jonathan E. Ross. The 10-year veteran is part of an elite special response team.
History of Serious Injury
Six months ago, Ross survived a dangerous incident in Bloomington, Minnesota. An undocumented immigrant allegedly dragged him 100 yards with a car. Ross suffered deep wounds to his arms and hands during that June 2025 arrest. The injuries were severe and required the officer to get 33 stitches. Vice President J.D. Vance said this past trauma made Ross sensitive to vehicle threats.

A Father Defends Him
His 80-year-old father, Ed Ross, spoke out to defend his son’s actions. He claimed that the victim hit his son with her car first. “She hit him,” Ed Ross stated while describing his son as a kind person. He also called Jonathan a committed Christian and a tremendous family man. The father noted that his son is a husband with a couple of kids.
Military and Personal Background
Jonathan Ross has lived near Minneapolis since 2015 with his wife and children. He uses a Veterans Administration loan for his home and has military plates. Records show he has worked as an immigration officer since at least 2013. His wife is a U.S. citizen whose parents are doctors in the Philippines. Neighbors say he is reserved but once flew pro-Trump and Gadsden flags.
The Fatal Shooting Incident
The shooting happened on January 7, 2026, in the Powderhorn Park neighborhood. Video shows Ross firing three shots after Good’s SUV inched toward him. The car then crashed into a sedan and came to a stop. Bystanders screamed at the agents and called the shooting a murder. The FBI is currently investigating the case to find more facts.
