Royal fans were surprised when Melania Trump greeted King Charles and Queen Camilla with a handshake, not a curtsy, during her second state visit to Windsor Castle. President Trump also skipped the traditional bow.
While many public figures bow or curtsy before the King and Queen, royal protocol does not require visiting heads of state to do so. “Shaking hands is perfectly acceptable,” the Royal Family website notes.

Melania looked elegant in a Christian Dior dark gray skirt suit and wide-brimmed purple hat. “She appeared confident and poised,” one observer said. The couple joined Prince William and Princess Kate in the Walled Garden before meeting the royal hosts.
The visit featured full pageantry, including a carriage procession and plans for a state dinner later in the evening. Trump is also expected to announce major financial commitments during the historic trip.
Do you think skipping the curtsy was a bold move — or simply modern protocol in action?
