Husband Vanishes After ICE Detention
Jennifer Vasquez is seeking answers after her husband, Kilmar Abrego Garcia, disappeared following an encounter with U.S. immigration officers on March 12. Despite a court order protecting him from deportation to El Salvador, Garcia was sent there on March 15 due to what officials called an “administrative error.”
Deportation Sparks Legal Outcry
Garcia, a father of three and union member, was allegedly questioned about gang ties before being flown to El Salvador’s notorious CECOT prison. A judge later ruled, “This was an illegal act,” stating the deportation violated federal law. A DOJ attorney admitted, “He should not have been sent to El Salvador.”
Wife’s Plea for Justice
“My name is Jennifer. I am Kilmar’s wife,” she told reporters. “That dream was shattered on March 12 when he was abducted… in front of our 5-year-old child.” She added, “I will not stop fighting until I see my husband alive.”
Uncertain Future
With legal battles ongoing and the Supreme Court halting his return, Garcia remains behind bars. “Is he OK?” Vasquez asked. “I don’t think anyone can answer that right now.”
