Adrienne Jones-McAllister is living a nightmare after her husband, Kevin McAllister, 61, was killed in a tragic MRI accident at Nassau Open MRI in Westbury, New York, on July 16. “He went limp in my arms,” she told News 12 Long Island. “I saw the machine snatch him.”
Adrienne was undergoing a knee MRI when she asked a technician to let Kevin in to help her stand. But Kevin was still wearing his 20-pound metal chain, commonly used for weight training. The powerful magnet inside the MRI instantly pulled him in. “The machine switched him around, pulled him in, and he hit the MRI,” she recalled. Despite desperate attempts to free him, they couldn’t break the magnetic force.
Kevin suffered multiple heart attacks and died two days later. “I was screaming, ‘Turn off the machine! Call 911!’” Adrienne said, still shaken by the event.
The Nassau County Police confirmed Kevin had entered the MRI room with a metallic chain, causing the fatal accident. An investigation is ongoing. Adrienne now struggles with sleepless nights and disbelief: “He waved goodbye to me, and his whole body went limp.”
