Krystal Maeyke, a 39-year-old mom from Australia, was diagnosed with stage four bowel cancer in May 2023. Before her diagnosis, she ignored a warning sign she now urges others to take seriously: sharp, stabbing stomach pain.
At first, Krystal believed it was a food intolerance. “I was fit, healthy, and ate well,” she shared on TikTok. But the pain worsened over three months, often bringing her to her knees. Despite testing negative for gluten intolerance, the discomfort persisted.

Eventually, Krystal was airlifted to a hospital 280 miles away, where she was told, “You have cancer… it’s everywhere.” That moment changed everything. She also overlooked persistent night sweats, brushing them off as summer heat, despite waking drenched and having to change her clothes and sheets.
Now living with terminal cancer, Krystal is raising awareness and funds through a GoFundMe for her 12-year-old son, Maison. “A vulnerable child who may miss out on the love and presence of his mother,” she wrote. Her story is a powerful reminder: don’t ignore persistent symptoms—listen to your body.
