What started as a peaceful July 4 gathering quickly turned deadly as a TikTok video captured the horrifying moment floodwaters overwhelmed Kerr County, Texas. Within 45 minutes, a calm stream turned into a raging flood, killing at least 51 people, including 15 children.
The video, shared by @kelseycrowder_, shows water rising rapidly between 5:43 p.m. and 6:45 p.m. By 6:13, trees and land were swallowed by fast-moving water. “Frio River Flood 2025. NATURE. IS. WILD,” she captioned it.
Rescue crews continue searching for more than 20 girls from Camp Mystic, where 750 children were staying. The camp remains without power, water, or communication. Officials believe some missing kids may simply be out of reach, not lost.
Viewers slammed the discontinuation of National Weather Service alerts. “Imagine if there was a way to warn people,” one commenter wrote. As anger grows, Governor Greg Abbott has extended the emergency order while new flood warnings are in effect.
