“PREGNANT?! You must be out of your mind, Rhonda!” David Harris yelled when he found out his wealthy daughter was pregnant by her lower-class boyfriend, Peter. Despite Mr. Harris’s insistence, 16-year-old Rhonda refused to terminate the pregnancy and was kicked out. “Maybe if mom was still alive, she would have supported me,” she told her father.

Rhonda sought refuge with Peter, but he rejected her too. Devastated, she wandered the streets and went into labor. A kind stranger, Mrs. Bamford, helped her to the hospital. Rhonda gave birth to a baby boy, but, overwhelmed, she decided to leave him on a plane to New York with a note: “I’m a poor mother who couldn’t care for her child. I hope you accept and cherish him as your own.”

Thirteen years later, Rhonda, now financially stable, sought out her son, Matthew. He was adopted by Lincy, the flight attendant who found him. “My mom? You must be kidding me!” Matthew lashed out when Rhonda found him. She apologized, explaining, “I was poor and abandoned. Will you not let me explain?”

Though initially resistant, Matthew agreed to meet her on weekends. Now 23, he has forgiven Rhonda, understanding her difficult choice. Rhonda is dating Andrew and plans to discuss marriage with Matthew. She also reconnected with Mrs. Bamford, who was glad to see her doing well.
