Woman suffered horrific death as she was eaten alive whilst on the phone to her mum

In 2011, a tragic encounter in eastern Siberia resulted in the deaths of 19-year-old Olga Moskalyova and her stepfather, Igor Tsyganenkov. While walking near a river, they were targeted by a mother brown bear and her three cubs.

The attack began when the bear lunged at Igor, killing him instantly. Olga managed to flee a short distance before the predator caught her. In a moment of extreme distress, she used her mobile phone to call her mother, Tatiana, several times during the ordeal.

During these harrowing calls, Tatiana heard the reality of the struggle. Initially thinking it was a joke, she soon realized the gravity of the situation as she heard the bear’s growls. She immediately contacted the authorities and local relatives to plead for a rescue mission.

In her final call, about an hour after the attack began, Olga’s tone shifted. She told her mother that she no longer felt any pain and shared her final words of love and forgiveness. The call ended shortly after, marking the last time Tatiana would hear her daughter’s voice.

When help arrived, police and hunters found that both Olga and her stepfather had passed away. The bears were later located and culled by emergency services. Olga is remembered by her family as a cheerful and talented young woman who had a bright future ahead of her.
