She thought dating apps were easy. Three days later, she was ready to delete them all — and apologize to every man she knew.
A TikTok user named Joanna decided to take over her male friend Pete’s Hinge profile, convinced men were exaggerating how hard dating could be. “I told him he must be doing something wrong,” she laughed at first. But what started as an experiment quickly became an emotional wake-up call.

“After three days of being a virtual boy, I’ve never felt this bad about myself,” she confessed. “I feel like a loser trying to get girls to like me. Even when I like the 2s and 3s — they don’t like me back!”
Her honesty struck a nerve online. One user commented, “If you’re losing it after three days, imagine 30 years.” Another joked, “Well, we finally got one to empathize with us.”
By the end of her experiment, Joanna admitted something few ever say: “It’s so difficult dating as a boy. I hate it.”
Maybe the hardest part of modern love isn’t finding someone — it’s remembering that everyone’s just trying to be seen. 💭
