Woman who works on nude cruise reveals the ‘most important rule’ everyone has to follow

Some vacations promise relaxation, but few are as unique as a nude cruise. For many first-timers, the idea brings a mix of curiosity and nerves. That’s why people like Kat Whitmire, who helps organize these cruises, often share what really happens onboard.

Kat works for Bare Necessities, a company that welcomes more than 2,000 guests on its clothing-optional sailings. She says most people imagine something wild or inappropriate, but the atmosphere is surprisingly calm and respectful. According to her, the cruises are designed to be freeing, not sexual.

The turning point for most newcomers comes when they hear the most important rule: always ask before taking a photo with anyone nearby. Privacy is taken very seriously. Kat also jokes that men should take a quick dip in cold water if they feel uncomfortable, and notes that formal dining still requires clothes for safety.

Kat says the cruises attract people of all ages who want to travel without judgment. About 70 percent of guests return year after year, which tells her the experience truly resonates. Many even begin their journey with simple skinny-dipping before discovering nude travel fits their lifestyle.

Guests also say that common worries, like accidental arousal, rarely happen. The environment is relaxed, and longtime nudists barely think about it. The focus is on comfort, community, and enjoying the trip.

Kat’s own story began years ago when she and her husband modeled on a cruise before becoming part of the staff. Now she helps others discover that sometimes, the most freeing trip is the one where you bring nothing but yourself.
