Poppy-mae Crutchley, 29, from Worcester, UK, was enjoying her first girls’ trip in Spain when tragedy struck just days in. After getting a small wrist tattoo, she suddenly felt ill and checked herself into a hospital in Benidorm.
Doctors acted fast, discovering fluid on her heart and dangerously low oxygen levels. She was later transferred to a specialist hospital, where she’s now in a coma and suffering from multiple organ failure. Her father, Simon, shared an emotional photo of her in intensive care, writing: “She’s still my little girl… I beg you to send my baby a little help.”
Family and doctors suspect the tattoo may have caused a bacterial infection, though the possibility of being spiked hasn’t been ruled out. Friends described her as “perfectly fine” before her rapid decline.
A GoFundMe has been launched to cover medical expenses and help bring Poppy home. “With your help,” the page reads, “we can give her the best chance possible.” Poppy’s loved ones are holding on to hope for her recovery.
