Sunjay J. Kapur, Chairman of Sona Comstar, died suddenly at 53 after suffering a heart attack during a polo match in England on June 12. Indian actress and MP Kangana Ranaut shared that a bee flew into his mouth, stung him, and blocked his airway, leading to cardiac arrest.
Just hours before his death, Kapur posted a heartfelt message mourning victims of the Air India crash. His words—“May they find strength in this difficult hour”—now serve as a poignant farewell.

Kapur transformed Sona Comstar into a global mobility tech leader focused on electric vehicles. Under his guidance, the company launched a successful IPO, invested heavily in R&D, and completed major acquisitions like Novelic, expanding into vehicle safety tech.
Remembered as a kind mentor and visionary, Kapur also served as ACMA President and CII Northern Region Chairman. He is survived by his wife Priya Sachdev Kapur and his children. Tributes poured in from business, political, and sports communities, honoring his legacy in industry, leadership, and life.
