On June 23, 2025, nine-year-old Rose Elizabeth Hendricks from Green Bay, Wisconsin, was fatally injured when a large tree collapsed during a storm. She and her brother had just returned from the grocery store and were outside their home when strong winds—up to 58 mph—brought down the tree. “The wind just picked up,” her mother Jayme Denamur told NBC26, recalling how the tree landed on Rose but missed her son.
Neighbors tried to help but needed a floor jack to free her. Fire Chief Mike Vanden Avond said Rose was “conscious and breathing” when crews arrived. She was taken to St. Vincent Hospital but died around 10:15 p.m. “She fought until she couldn’t no more,” Jayme said tearfully.

Born with collapsed lungs, Rose defied the odds. “My daughter’s actually a miracle baby,” Jayme shared. Her father, Richard Krystof, said, “She made the day better if it was a bad day.” Rose was known for her humor and love for softball, video games, and art.
A GoFundMe raised over $16,000. Jayme posted, “A piece of me missing now and forever… you will forever be in my thoughts.” The family plans a vigil to honor Rose, surrounded by overwhelming community support.
