Influencers Drown At Yacht Party After ‘Refusing Life Jackets’ As They Would ‘Ruin Tans And Selfies’

Two Brazilian influencers, Aline Tamara Moreira de Amorim (37) and Beatriz Tavares da Silva Faria (27), tragically drowned after their overloaded speedboat capsized in the dangerous Devil’s Throat section of the Iguazu River.

Ignoring Warnings for Social Media

Despite warnings from the boat’s captain, the women allegedly refused to wear life jackets, saying they would “ruin their tans and selfies,” according to Police Commissioner Marcos Alexandre Alfino. Their decision proved fatal as the boat, carrying six instead of five people, overturned in rough waters.

A Preventable Tragedy

Amorim’s body was found days later, while survivor Vanessa Audrey da Silva, who wore a life jacket, clung to a rock until help arrived. “There was a moment in the water when no one could see anyone,” she recalled.

A Growing Global Concern

This isn’t an isolated incident. Influencers in Indonesia and Spain have also died while attempting dangerous stunts for content. Experts warn that the global obsession with selfies is becoming a serious public health issue, calling for stricter safety measures at tourist hotspots.
