As his health declined, Lee cared for him through dementia, calling it “one of the hardest experiences” but adding, “You really have to pray hard and call on all those great reserves of love.”

After Lowe’s death, Lee dedicated herself to The Thalians, focusing on veterans’ mental health. “My work on behalf of The Thalians is what I’m proudest of,” she said.
