Martin Sheen and Janet Templeton married in a simple 15-minute ceremony in 1961. While Martin rose to Hollywood fame, Janet stayed out of the spotlight, raising four children and standing by his side through decades of challenges—including his heart attack during Apocalypse Now filming. She even slept on the hospital floor as he fought for his life.
Martin suffered a breakdown and later admitted, “I cried and cried. I turned completely gray.” His recovery took years and involved therapy, faith, and Janet’s unwavering honesty. “She would always call me out,” he said. Her honesty and love helped him achieve 40 years of sobriety.

Together, they raised a family in Malibu, watching their children—Charlie, Emilio, Renée, and Ramón—enter the entertainment industry. Emilio kept the Estevez name, and Martin proudly supported him: “I thank God he didn’t change it.”
Charlie Sheen’s battle with addiction and his HIV diagnosis made headlines, but Martin calls his son’s recovery “a miracle.” Despite public struggles, the family bond, built on truth and resilience, remains unbreakable.
