Constant buzz surrounds Andie MacDowell’s hair, which she insists is silver, not gray. She reflects on the attention, noting it wouldn’t exist if she were a man. MacDowell, 65, shared with NewBeauty, “It wouldn’t happen if I was a man. We have to look at why there’s interest in me having silver hair, because if I were a man, there would be no question I had silver hair, right?”
Despite the chatter, MacDowell loves her silver locks and wouldn’t change a thing. She admitted she wished she had gone gray sooner but was initially “afraid.” During COVID, she gained the courage to embrace it fully, finding it suited her. She was inspired by her sister, saying, “My sister’s full-on silver and she’s only 18 months older than me. I thought she looked so much more beautiful being silver. I was jealous.”
As a L’Oréal Paris ambassador for four decades, MacDowell expressed gratitude for the positive reception to her natural hair journey. At the L’Oréal Paris Women of Worth celebration, she said, “I’m just appreciative that people let me be the individual that I am without question. I think people also agree that silver hair probably suits me.”
