Eric Trump says Donald Trump’s presidency has taken a huge personal and financial toll on their family. “The opportunity cost, the legal cost, the toll it’s taken on our family has been astronomical,” he told Financial Times. He denies claims that the Trumps profited from politics, saying they’d be richer if his father hadn’t run at all.
Now 41, Eric was asked if he might run for president when his father’s second term ends. He didn’t rule it out but questioned the personal cost: “Would I want my kids to live the same experience…?” He hinted that others in the family could also take up the political torch.
When asked if 2024 would be the last election with “Trump” on the ballot, Eric responded, “Time will tell. But there’s more people than just me.” He’s unsure if he’s willing to expose loved ones to the harsh realities of politics.
Despite global fame, Eric says the Trump name brings more scrutiny than reward. For now, the family’s political future remains uncertain—but not impossible.
