‘American Idol’ Star Mandisa’s Cause of Death at 47 Finally Revealed & Fans Can’t ‘Believe’ It: ‘Breaks My Heart’

News outlets have confirmed that “American Idol” star Mandisa died on April 18 at 47 due to complications from class III obesity. People magazine reported that her weight was 488 pounds at the time of her death. The Cleveland Clinic defines class III obesity as having a BMI of 40 or higher, leading to various health issues.

Fans were shocked and saddened by the news. One Instagram user wrote, “I really refuse to believe this was the actual cause,” while another added, “I’ve never seen obesity documented as an actual cause of death.” Some fans expressed concerns about Mandisa’s well-being before her death. “No one was checking [on] her? At all 🙁 that breaks my heart,” commented an observer.

Mandisa was found deceased in her Nashville home, reportedly not seen alive for about three weeks before her death. A Facebook statement announcing her death shared, “We can confirm that yesterday Mandisa was found in her home deceased. We ask for your prayers for her family and close-knit circle of friends during this incredibly difficult time.”

Her career soared after finishing ninth on season five of “American Idol.” She won a Grammy in 2014 for her album “Overcomer” and openly shared her struggles with depression and mental health. Despite her challenges, Mandisa’s legacy of hope, resilience, and faith remains influential. Rest in peace, Mandisa.
