A wife shared on Reddit that she stopped cooking for her husband after overhearing him make a hurtful comment about her food to his parents. The couple comes from different cultural backgrounds, and the husband isn’t fond of the wife’s traditional dishes. Despite this, the wife made an effort to learn and cook his favorite meals. Initially, her husband seemed appreciative, even encouraging her to continue.
However, during a dinner with his parents, the wife overheard her husband say, “The food I make can only be fed to pigs, not humans.” Deeply hurt, she confronted him and decided never to cook for him again, leaving the dinner abruptly.
When the husband returned home, he tried to downplay his comment, claiming he was trying to protect her feelings and insisting she was overreacting. He then moved in with his father, accusing her of “starving” him. The wife, however, stood her ground, saying, “He can stay there, no pressure.”
The Reddit community largely supported the wife, criticizing the husband for his harsh words. One commenter noted, “Mocking you in front of his parents was a disgusting thing to do. A healthy marriage requires open communication and an equal partnership.” Many agreed that the wife was right to refuse cooking after such a degrading comment.
