Jane Asher, once known as Paul McCartney’s girlfriend, is thriving at 79 — far from the shadow of her famous past. At just 17, she met The Beatles for a magazine interview. McCartney later said, “We all fancied her — I tried pulling her, succeeded, and we were boyfriend and girlfriend for quite a long time.”
Their relationship captivated the world. Paul even lived with Jane’s family, writing songs like “I Want to Hold Your Hand” in their attic. But after discovering Paul’s infidelity, Jane ended the engagement in 1968. Despite heartbreak, she never sold her story and kept her dignity.
A Quiet, Creative Life
Jane went on to build a rich life. She married cartoonist Gerald Scarfe in 1981, raised three children, and kept her personal life fiercely private. She also became a respected actress, author, and businesswoman.
Aging with Grace
Asher embraces aging with humor. “I don’t want to be a know-all granny,” she told The Guardian. Her life proves fame fades, but self-respect and creativity endure.
Jane Asher chose her own path — and it shows.
