Hey guys, I’m Hayley, and I want to share a story about trust. My husband Kevin and I have a one-year-old daughter, Lucy. Recently, I had to go on a month-long business trip, and we needed a nanny for the first time. Kevin and I sifted through applications, seeking someone reliable. We interviewed Amanda, an experienced 48-year-old woman, and Sarah, a 22-year-old medical student. Despite my reservations, Kevin was impressed with Sarah’s connection with Lucy. He reassured me, “She’s smart and capable. I think she’ll be perfect.”
Eventually, we hired Sarah, but I installed surveillance cameras for peace of mind. During my trip, I frequently checked the footage. One night, I saw Lucy struggling to breathe while Sarah helped her and Kevin had a panic attack. I called Kevin immediately, and he explained, “Sarah…she knew exactly what to do. She saved Lucy’s life.”
I was relieved and grateful to Sarah for her quick thinking. When I returned, Kevin and I offered Sarah a permanent position. Kevin admitted, “I doubted my decision at first, but Sarah really proved herself.”
Sarah became an integral part of our family. Reflecting on the experience, Kevin said, “It’s not easy to trust someone with our child, but Sarah has shown us that we can.” Our home was filled with laughter and joy, and we learned valuable lessons about trust, forgiveness, and giving people the benefit of the doubt.
