NYU College Republicans President Resigns After ‘Inappropriate’ Remarks About Barron Trump

NYU College Republicans President Resigns Over Comments About Barron Trump

Kaya Walker, president of NYU’s College Republicans, resigned after making controversial remarks about Barron Trump. She described the 18-year-old as “sort of like an oddity on campus,” adding that he “goes to class, he goes home.” Her comments were featured in a Vanity Fair article, sparking backlash.

Reactions and Resignation

The College Republicans distanced themselves from Kaya’s statement, noting it “does not align with the values” of the organization. Despite claims that the media misrepresented her words, they agreed her remarks were inappropriate. Kaya stepped down on February 16, and the group extended an invitation to Barron Trump to join them.

Public Backlash

Social media users reacted strongly, with some defending Barron’s right to a normal college experience, while others criticized Kaya for her comments. One user wrote, “He literally just goes to college and goes home like a normal person.”

Kaya’s Comments After Resignation

In an interview, Kaya expressed regret over her actions, saying, “I’ve been killing myself trying to support the conservative movement,” and mentioned the growth of her chapter during her leadership.
