Restaurant Manager’s Humbling Lesson
One evening, Linda, caught in a sudden downpour, sought shelter at a famous cafe. When she approached the entrance, the porter dismissed her, commenting she “could hardly afford to dine here.” The manager, Simon, echoed his sentiments and asked her to leave, saying, “I can’t let you go in looking like that. You’re going to scare away all of our guests.”
The following day, Simon met Linda again, this time at the table of the cafe owner. To his shock, Linda revealed she was there to purchase the cafe. She told the owner, “My husband and I are happy to buy the cafe.”
Later, Linda demoted Simon, saying, “We don’t think the way you treated me the other night is any way to treat a customer.” However, when Simon later helped a customer who couldn’t pay, Linda rewarded him for his change in attitude, offering him his managerial position back.
Linda’s actions taught Simon an invaluable lesson: “People deserve a second chance,” and that karma rewards kindness.
